The Gifts and Giving Committee is concerned for the gifts and talents that each person possesses, and how these may be offered to help others. It seeks to help Pastoral Charges keep in perspective, and under review, the proportion of money spent locally in relation to that provided for the wider church through the Mission and Service Fund.
The Gifts and Giving Committee's principal tasks are:
-
to provide stewardship education and resource support to the Presbytery and Pastoral Charges
-
to keep the Mission and Service Fund (M&S) alive in the minds, hearts, and financial givings of presbyters, and through them, the members of the Pastoral Charges
-
to provide at each Presbytery meeting the current status of M&S givings of each Pastoral Charge
-
to annually, prepare, distribute, and collect the M&S Covenanting Forms for Pastoral Charges
-
to recruit and support the M&S Enthusiasts in each Pastoral Charge.
The Gifts and Giving Committee meets monthly, as a rule, but more frequently in October when M&S covenanting details and Enthusiasts’ information packets are prepared.
The committee works well with about six members, especially when they are from the same geographic area.
