Members at large:
The Heritage and Resources Committee is structured to correspond with the Conference committee of the same name. It is responsible for five major aspects of Presbytery’s work: archives, finance, manses, pensions, and property. Although divided into five units to cover these areas, all business is presented to the whole committee.
The Heritage and Resources Committee's principal tasks are:
Archives Unit - Helen Craig
-
to review the records of the pastoral charges of Presbytery, on a three-year rotation
Finance Unit - Ms. Roselyn Green
-
to prepare and present the annual budget
-
to set and receive pastoral charge allocations
-
to make disbursements according to the approved budget
-
to submit annually an audited financial statement
Manse Unit -
-
to arrange for and conduct regular manse inspections and inspect the manse (if there is one) when there is to be a change in pastoral relations in a pastoral charge
-
to report findings related to inspections to Presbytery, and make recommendations as deemed necessary.
Pensions unit -
-
to report on matters pertaining to the pension and group insurance plans for ministry personnel
-
to visit annually ministry personnel pensioners in relation to their welfare and
well-being
Property unit
-
to liaise with pastoral charges that are considering changes to property held by them for United Church use
-
to receive applications from pastoral charges to purchase, sell, lease, erect, alter, renovate, etc., real property (buildings or land and vegetation growing on land) held by them for United Church use, and recommend appropriate action to Presbytery
-
to receive applications from pastoral charges to purchase and install major personal property (generally moveable items of value over $5000), and recommend appropriate action to Presbytery
To allow flexibility and membership across Presbytery, the Heritage and Resources Committee meets on the same day as the Court of Presbytery and on an "as needed" basis in the interim.
Members are given primary responsibility to work within one of the five units. The Treasurer of Presbytery gives guidance to the finance unit. The desired number of members is 16. |
